Are you “Digital Ready”?

You may have seen the latest advertising campaign from the Government about this, but how do you know if your Antenna is “Digital Ready”?

If you are buying a new TV or set top box, the Australian Government has developed labels to help you choose the option that is right for you. Look out for these labels at your local electronics retailer.

Digital TV Capable only with a set top box

This label indicates that the TV is an analog TV and is capable of receiving digital free-to-air shows only when you attach it to a set top box. The set top box you choose will come in either standard definition or high definition format. The labels below (which appear on TVs and set top boxes in electronics retailers) will help you choose the option that is right for you.

Digital TV Ready Standard Definition

This label indicates that the TV or set top box can receive Standard Definition digital free-to-air shows. With Standard Definition, you will receive the same free-to-air shows you currently receive on analog TV. Digital TV is currently available in the Blue Mountains.

Digital TV Ready High Definition

This label indicates that the TV or set top box can receive High Definition digital TV. With High Definition broadcasts, you are able to receive the full range of channels, including those that are unavailable in Standard Definition. Digital TV is currently available in the Blue Mountains.

Based in Springwood, We are Smack Bang in the middle of The Mountains.

We service the Blue Mountains area in Western Sydney which includes all suburbs between Lapstone and Blackheath. This is our specialty since this is a complicated geographic area to receive good television signals. If you live East of the River, or past Blackheath we cannot help you as the way Digital TV signals work, completely changes in these flat areas and you are better off calling the local guy. Sorry about that.

We can fix all kinds of weird and wonderful problems relating to your TV reception, as well as setting up your VCR, PVR and DVD Recorders, DVD players, Sound Systems, Xbox 360, Playstation3 or 4, or any other gadget you feel like plugging into your home entertainment system. Even if you think it’s not possible to fix, or the “other guy” has given up, We Can Do It!!!

If you are planning on buying a new TV or a set top box and don’t know whether your antenna is going to work, give us a call. We have a portable signal testing gizmo that tells us whether it’s going to work or not, and a diagnosis generally takes no more than 5 minutes if there seems to be a problem.
